The Big Reveal of My New Writing Office!
I usually work from my home office. You see this space in some of our FQwentuhan episodes. This is special space for me. It started as a small library that had mini desks for each family member. The boys’ homework moments with me as their tutor were spent there. Later on, we expanded it to make way for decent-size work stations for each family member. When I started hiring assistants, we added a couple more work stations. It’s made of wood and looks out to a balcony.
When my work became an everyday thing with office hours from 9am to 6pm, it became difficult for me to set boundaries. Deep in writing, I would get all sorts of household interruptions, “Maa’m wala na pong bigas!” “Magpapadeliver na po ba ng tubig?”etc., etc.
Although I loved the no traffic going to and from work set-up, the lack of boundaries became a little problematic. So, I decided to have another office, this time away from home.
For some reason, I didn’t have the energy to do the decorating, buying of furniture and office equipment, something I used to love doing. It’s a good thing, I found someone who helped me with it. Emm Sulit, whose office I really liked, gave me the contact details of Indy Ycasiano, the one who helped her. At the back of my mind, I thought maybe I also wanted to be surprised. ?
For my new writing office, I decided to make it different from my existing one. This time I want it light, with greens, no heavy wood. After just one face-to-face meeting at the place and a couple of emails to finalize the design, I was ready for my very first “Big Reveal!”
