Catch the segment on my youngest son Anton and me on ANC On The Money today April 30, 2015. It airs at 6:30 and 11:30 pm. The following day replays will be at 7:30 am and 3:30 pm.
It’s always a delight for parents to see their children “perform.” Well, this taping was no exception. I always see how my bunso gives all his heart when he dances – whether it’s just in a class program, the Araneta Coliseum, or even outside the country.
It was no different when I was listening to him answer the questions during his part of the interview. This brought me back to memories when they were still toddlers. I’ve always liked confident kids and early on I vowed to raise mine to be confident.
Although each person is born with a temperament (Sanguine, Choleric, Melancholic, Phlegmatic – see Chapter 2: Celebrate their Differences (Raising Pinoy Boys), with some personality types having the propensity to be shy parents, can help their kids ease out of shyness. Last year I wrote an article sharing what parents can do to help their children gain confidence. Read Raising Performers.
This is why I’m excited about May 9. Our family workshop will feature our sons share what they know about FQ. Had they been the painfully shy teenagers, they wouldn’t be able to reach out and share what they know. And this is the danger in not helping our children ease out of extreme shyness. The world will never know and experience their great ideas if they’re not able to communicate them well. Worse, others may steal the limelight and credit for their great ideas just because of this extreme shyness.
We hope to see you and your family on May 9, 2015 at the SMX Convention SM Aura, Taguig City. Please click this link: Famly FQ Workshop.
